http://www.hotrod.com/feature_stories/1310_ratchet_handles_torture_test/ for the results... the last one on the left is a Proto, which started out as the company Plumb. No Snap On, SK, or Blackhawk, just some ordinary swap meet wrenches, except for that Proto

Hot Rod Magazine has a newsletter you can have emailed so you can keep up with all the things they have going on
The Comet Safari is something I touched on with the post about the Comet endurance publicity http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-1964-mercury-comet-durability-run.html
I don't remember how I signed onto the newsletter, but their email address is hotrodnews@email.sourceinterlinkpubs.com

Hot Rod Magazine did a full feature of the Mach 40, the Fuller "Thundertaker", and Ray Everham's Nascar Fury in this months issue
for my gallery of this car at SEMA; http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/11/most-of-cars-at-sema-are-impressive.html
http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/11/ray-evernham-made-64-plymouth-belvedere.html for my gallery of the Fury
So check out the new issue on the magazine rack! Or even better, the website! http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/hrdp_1304_thoroughbred_1964_plymouth_belvedere/
This is one of the best issues in a while if you dig cool cars.

Hot Rod features the Chisenhall '36 coupe... well, I scooped them finally. I posted it at the American Street Car Challenge/ Run to the Coast at Tustin
posted a month ago http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/02/sports-car-racing-not-just-for-sports.html and http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-variety-of-cars-at-2013-run-to-cost.html
But get the new Hot Rod magazine for the story and photos they have. Me? I just take the photos, not the interviews. I didn't know that this car belongs to the family son of Vintage Air.
Rickmann's daily driver Corvette, pinstriped and scalloped by Von Dutch
that is classy.
Because he was the photographer for Hot Rod Magazine, Rickmann worked with the best in the business. He was connected to everyone, and occasionally when the hot new part needed to be installed on something, well, the Corvette was available to fit the new intake, carbs, exhaust...
Notice the carbs sticking through the hood, side pipes... it got the coolest stuff added on. He didn't garage it, left the top down 365, and withing a couple years it was sold off. The new owner didn't have it long before a wiring short burnt it down. Blamed Rickmann for the shoddy wiring, backyard rigged work... but the car was a wreck and used up.

Best compliment of the month, and honorable mention from Thom Taylor in Hot Rod Magazine
OK, he did mistake this blogspot.com for a .com but that can be taken as a compliment too... I mean, anyone thinking that my content quality and quantity are easily mistaken for a website (.com) and overlook that this is a "made in the garage" blog, in my spare time, are welcome to just enjoy it and possibly think it's a professionally made, full time, team effort.
That would be fine. It's just me after work, and on weekends.
I'm so stoked!
It's far out that such a recognized Hot Rod authority (Hot Rod and Grand National Roadster Show Halls of Fame) and person of impeccable taste likes my site enough to give it an honorable mention in the icon of hot rodding publications. And if anyone looks up Justacarguy.com on Google they'll find this blogspot.com and enjoy
If you haven't run across Thom Taylor's name and reputation in the past, here is a quick bio after this link http://dev.motorburg.com/?page_id=128
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and taught there later in life. He has designed at least 4 of the America's Most Beautiful Roadster winners, and at least one Ridler award winner
If you are new to looking at my site, I hope you enjoy browsing, and if there is something particular you are looking for, then go through the 1000 to 1100 tags running alphabetically down the right hand side of this site to the word for what you are interested in, click on it, and hang on for the ride.
I recommend that if you just have a couple minutes, you've come to the right place. Look at http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/03/best-of-archives.html
and http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/01/best-posts-my-favorite-stories-from.html for the posts that I think are the most interesting of all the 10300 I've made.
Or for a lot of humor, about 809 posts of funny stuff http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/humor
Signing off with, thank you Thom!
